Shannen Doherty (April 12, 1971 – July 13, 2024)She was known for her many roles in television and film, including as Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie (1982–1983); Maggie Malene in Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985); Kris Witherspoon in Our House (1986–1988); Heather Duke in Heathers (1989); Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–1994), 90210 (2008–2009) and BH90210 (2019); Prue Halliwell in Charmed (1998–2001); and Dobbs in Fortress (2021). The actor developed a reputation for being difficult to work with on the set — purportedly feuding with cast and crew members, especially with co-star Jennie Garth. The headlines and reports on the entertainment news shows made her as infamous as she was famous. In addition, she had many notable failed relationships. Her marriage to Ashley Hamilton, son of actor George Hamilton, in 1993 ended in divorce in 1994; the other to Rick Salomon ended in a 2002 annulment nine months after the wedding. In April 2023, Doherty filed for divorce from her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, whom she married in 2011.
She also faced many battles with her health. Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Following the diagnosis, the actress revealed in April 2017 that she had gone into remission, though by 2019, the cancer returned. The following year Doherty announced her diagnosis of metastatic stage 4 cancer. Then, in June of 2023, the actress shared that the cancer had spread to her brain and that she had undergone surgery. In June 2023, she shared on Instagram that the cancer had spread to her brain and that she had undergone surgery five months earlier to remove a brain tumor. Doherty died from the disease on July 13, 2024, as noted in a statement released by her publicist announcing her death. She was 53 years old.
