In het volksgeloof dacht men dat deze geesten als mensen gedaante rondliepen dus zich ook branden aan de netels en daarom vluchtte. Een plantkundige uit vroegere tijd schreef het volgende ter illustratie van de duivel zijn botanische onkunde: ,,Dat krut kenn ick – säd de Düvel – un sett sick in de Brennetel.” Naar het volksgeloof in Neudörfel (Saksen) kwamen speciaal op Sint Michielsdag (29 sep.) de heksen bijeen om op kruiswegen, waar veel brandnetels groeiden, te vergaderen. Ook maakten ze van deze gelegenheid gebruik om brandnetels te plukken en ze door hun toverdrankjes te mengen. De Slovaakse bewoners in het dorpje Selec gebruikte de brandnetel voor allerlei ziekten. Lemmon started a long-time friendship with James Cagney which lasted until Cagney's death in 1986. Prior to his appearance in his first film, years before, he started in live television. In one particular performance, Lemmon decided to play his character differently. He decided to play the character left-handed, which is opposite to his own way of movement. Tradition preserves life. But it does not give life. Goals are not life. Goals inspire life. But they are not life. Life is here in this moment now. To be alive, every moment must be a moment that never happened before. Which means that Torah must not be about tradition. It cannot be grounded on a memory of the past. Those are important, truly vital. But a Torah life cannot be built upon them. Real life, Torah life, is about who you are now, where the core of your soul lies at this very moment.
