Martha Jane Quiner Carpenter
This is Martha Jane Quiner Carpenter, an aunt of Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder - who wrote letters to her in 1925, about the time she (with Rose Wilder Lane’s editorial assistance) pinned her draft of Prairie Girl, which Rose actually re-titled, Pioneer Girl manuscript. And there were several versions. These versions with much more writing and editing, produced what would become the classic, The Little House Books! Aunt Martha shared many stories and childhood memories in these letters, which helped Laura and Rose construct these books. The Henry Newcomb Quiner family were living in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana at the time of her birth. Their homesite is now the location of the Salvation Army and other offices. Working towards a historical site marker there.
