The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara was originally given to Elizabeth as a wedding gift in 1947 by her grandmother, Queen Mary, who herself had received it as a wedding present in 1893 from the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland, a women’s committee who raised the money to buy it for Mary. They managed to raise so much for it that they donated the rest to the survivors and families of the HMS Victoria disaster, at the request of Mary. ♥️

Made by Garrard, it is described as "a festoon-and-scroll with nine large oriental pearls on diamond spikes and set on a base of alternate round and lozenge collets between two plain bands of diamonds". 💍

The Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace was made in the 1930s by Cartier, and was another of Elizabeth’s wedding presents. This necklace was a gift from the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Sir Mir Osman Ali Khan, and comes with a matching tiara. It is made of diamonds, and is designed after English roses. 🥀

You may have also seen it worn more recently by the Princess of Wales. 💕
