Het verhaal van hoe reggae-icoon  Bob Marley  tegenslagen overwon, en de reis achter zijn revolutionaire muziek.   We gingen in een opwelling naar deze film kijken en hoewel ik niet iemand ben die naar reggaemuziek luistert, zou ik er graag meer over willen weten en willen zien wat Bob Marley in onze wereld was.  Het verhaal was niet het gemakkelijkste om te volgen omdat het in de tijd rondsprong, wat normaal gesproken niet moeilijk te volgen is, maar in deze film was dat wel het geval.  Er ontbraken aspecten die deze film veel beter bij elkaar hadden gebracht. Ik merkte dat ik erg van de muziek genoot en ik kreeg een idee waarom Bob Marley een belangrijk boegbeeld was in de poging om de haat weg te nemen door iedereen liefde te leren. Ik vond de actrice die de vrouw van Bob speelde fantastisch.  Ik voelde veel pijn en strijd die ze moet hebben ervaren toen de beroemdheidsstatus van haar man enorm steeg.  Voor mij was zij het beste deel van de film. Aspirant-actrice serveert lattes aan filmsterren tussen audities door en jazzmuzikant Sebastian schraapt zich op door cocktailparty-optredens te geven in groezelige bars.  Maar naarmate het succes toeneemt, worden ze geconfronteerd met beslissingen die het kwetsbare weefsel van hun liefdesrelatie aantasten, en de dromen waar ze zo hard voor hebben gewerkt dreigen ze uit elkaar te drijven. De levendige kleuren en het gebruik van partituren om de sfeer voor scènes te bepalen, brachten mezelf terug in de tijd.  Deze film voelt niet alleen als een prachtig nostalgische knipoog naar het Hollywood van weleer, maar ook als die van een tijdloos liefdesverhaal.  Gosling en Stone hebben een charme in hun chemie op het scherm tijdens de muziek- en dansnummers.  Al deze aspecten leiden tot een rauwe weergave van liefde die velen in het leven ervaren, terwijl de kijkers nog steeds een gevoel van hoop en verwondering krijgen.  Ik was in vervoering vanaf de openingsscène tot de laatste noot gespeeld

  Een intieme documentaire over het leven en de carrière van de 'Queen of Disco', Donna Summer.  De film, mede geregisseerd door Summer's dochter Brooklyn Sudano (met Roger Ross Williams), geeft een zeer persoonlijke kijk op de carrière van de zanger. Er is geen formeel verhaal, maar gelukkig heeft Summer een zeer grote verzameling persoonlijke opnames (ze was een early adopter van homevideocamera's) en geschriften nagelaten.  Als superster was haar carrière ook goed gedocumenteerd, wat alleen maar bijdroeg aan de rijkdom aan materiaalarchief van de familie.  Er zijn niet per se 'pratende hoofden';  in plaats daarvan wordt de 'vertelling' grotendeels gevormd uit die opnames. On August 1 1989, the third single from Madonna’s Like a Prayer album, Cherish, was released by Sire Records. The song was written and produced by Madonna an Patrick Leonard.
