I never wanted to let you go

I never wanted to let you go.

The thought of life without you was something I could never prepare for—and even now, it doesn’t feel real.

You weren’t just my dog. You were my best friend, my safe place, my constant comfort through every season of life. You listened without judgment, loved without conditions, and gave me more joy than words can ever hold.

Saying goodbye felt impossible. My arms wanted to hold on forever, to keep you close and protect you from time itself. But love means more than clinging—it means letting you go gently, with gratitude for every moment we shared.

Now, the house feels quieter, the days a little heavier. Yet, in my heart, you are still here—your pawprints etched into my soul, your spirit stitched into every memory.

I may not see you anymore, but I carry you with me in everything I do. And though I never wanted to let you go, I know the bond we had means you’ll never truly be gone.
