You used to follow me everywhere

You used to follow me everywhere.

Room to room. Step to step.
Always so close that if I stopped too quickly, you’d bump into me.

I used to laugh and call you my shadow.
But now that you’re gone, the word means something deeper.

Because shadows never truly leave.
They change with the light,
but they are always there.
And so are you.

In the quiet hallways.
In the corner of my eye.
In the warmth that brushes past me when I think of you.

Forever my shadow.
Forever trailing just behind my steps.
And one day, when I cross the Rainbow Bridge,
I know I’ll look back—and finally see you walking beside me again.

Until then, I’ll carry you with me.
Not just in memory.
But in presence.
Forever my shadow.
