Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts was nicknamed "Tinker Hell" on the set of "Hook" (1991) because she was difficult to deal with, a reaction to her working conditions of solitude and greenscreen. Roberts almost put the production into jeopardy when she fled California after her wedding to Kiefer Sutherland was called off. She decided to avoid the press by hiding out in Ireland. A furious Steven Spielberg reportedly threatened to fire her if she didn't return immediately.

The wardrobe department originally conceived of a much more elaborate costume for Tinkerbell, but eventually went with a more basic, tomboyish outfit when Roberts insisted on playing the part in bare feet. Because Tinkerbell was often in the air, Roberts had an assistant whose sole responsibility was cleaning her feet.
According to the 2019 bio of Carrie Fisher by Sheila Weller, first assistant director Bruce Cohen reported that Fisher was mainly hired to polish Tinkerbell's lines, though she did other things, as well. One exchange of dialogue Cohen credits to Fisher are the lines when Tinkerbell says, "You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you" ... "That's where I'll be waiting."Fisher was Spielberg's original prototype for Tinkerbell, and she has a cameo in the film as part of the kissing couple on the bridge who begin to float when some fairy dust lands on them as Tinkerbell takes the unconscious Peter back to Neverland (with George Lucas).
