SWEET MUSIC
"SWEET MUSIC" (1935)
MY THOUGHTS: I enjoyed this movie, but what was a real treat for me was being able to see a young Rudy Vallee! It was just by coincidence, but I happened to see him in the movie: "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" last weekend. In that film, he was at the very end of his career, and although he was quite good in the role, he was (obviously) a much older gentleman. Seeing him perform at such a young age was quite fun and I very much appreciated his enthusiasm and abilities. However, he was just as robust and on-point, with impeccable timing, for the duration of his time in front of the camera in the latter film. A truly talented man indeed!
SYNOPSIS: "A crooning bandleader woos a nightclub singer/dancer but cannot stop arguing with her."
SCREENPLAY: Jerry Wald, Carl Erickson and Warren Duff; Story by Jerry Wald.
DIRECTOR: Alfred E. Green
