MANASSAS

MANASSAS — Located at the strategic intersection of the Sudley-Manassas Road and the Warrenton Turnpike, the Stone House endured both battles here in July 1861 and August 1862. In each event, fighting raged in the fields around the house and the structure was converted into a field hospital. For years after the war, thousands of veteran soldiers from both sides could recall noticing the house in the intersection. Today, much of the structure remains original and appears as it did at the time of the war.
