When you’ve lived long enough
When you’ve lived long enough, you start to measure life differently.
Not by the big milestones everyone talks about… but by the small moments that stay with you long after they’ve passed.A quiet afternoon. A shared smile. A laugh that echoes in your heart even when the room is empty again.
Sitting here, watching a little one play at my feet, I realize something that time has gently taught me.
The love I have for my grandchild isn’t loud.
It doesn’t need to be.
It doesn’t shout or demand attention. It doesn’t try to prove itself.
It simply stays.
In every glance. Every soft smile. Every moment I sit and watch them discover the world like it’s brand new.
It stays in the way my heart feels fuller without explanation… in the way even the ordinary days feel meaningful now.
And I think that’s what makes it so powerful.
Because long after the toys are put away… long after the laughter fades into memory…
This love will still be here.
Quiet.
Steady.
And always with me.
