Ruth Etting

 Ruth Etting was a popular stage and radio singer who appeared in 36 short and feature films between 1929 and 1936. The Doris Day and James Cagney film, "Love Me or Leave Me" is highly fictionalized and Etting's style of singing was not like that of the 1950s manner Doris Day represented in the film. Etting only said that the real part of her life was not in the film, her 28-year marriage to Myrl Alderman.
