Lillian Roth


Lillian Roth, December 13, 1910 - May 12, 1980, began on the New York stage and when sound films came in, she was in demand due to her marvelous vivacious singing style. She was in numerous short subjects from 1929-1939 and in 10 feature films between 1929 and 1933. Alcoholism took control of her life and Alcoholic Anonymous helped to gain a hold of her life. In 1954, she wrote her autobiography, "I'll Cry Tomorrow", which became a bestseller and was made into a film starring Susan Hayward. The musical style of Roth was updated to please the audiences in 1955.
