 As a parent

at some point you’re gonna disappoint people

not because you’re wrong
but because you chose your child
over keeping everyone else comfortable

you’re gonna say no
when others expect a yes

you’re gonna set boundaries
that people don’t like

you’re gonna do things differently
and get questioned for it

but people pleasing doesn’t protect your child

it teaches them
their needs come second
their comfort is negotiable

and i’m not raising a child like that

so yes
i’ll disappoint people

i’ll be the one who says no
the one who stands firm
the one who doesn’t fold just to be liked

because my job isn’t to keep everyone happy

it’s to protect and raise my child

even if that makes me the “difficult” one
