The art deco National Broadcasting Company recording studios (NBC) stand on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Vine,
was designed by famed architect John C. Austin and built in 1938. Many of America's most popular radio programs were broadcast from these facilities for over three decades.
In the stunning foyer of the NBC radio studios a curved mural portrayed the genie of radio, feet on earth, head in the clouds, amid radio scenes from around the world
NBC depart in 1963 as planned and begininning in May 1964, the 26 year-old radion/television studio was demolished and a skyscraper development never materialized since the property’s new owner, Home Savings and Loan, had no plans for developing the vacant site.
