I like to believe there are angels just for animals

I like to believe there are angels just for animals—gentle guardians who appear in the quiet moment between love and loss.

They arrive softly, before the ache has even settled, to lift our companions in the most tender way. They tuck weary paws and tired ears under a wing of light, keeping them safe from pain, from fear, from every storm this world ever held.

In their care, there are no needles, no cold nights, no closed doors. Only sunbeams to stretch in, grass that never fades, and the steady rhythm of a heart finally at peace.

Though we can’t see this with our eyes, grief has a way of teaching us to feel what can’t be proven. We feel it in the way love lingers—woven into leashes still hanging by the door, in bowls we instinctively set down, in the empty beds that still hold warmth in memory.

The angels carry them across whatever bridge light becomes, but our pets never truly leave us. They return in the hush between heartbeats, in the way silence sometimes feels familiar, in the soft tug of memory that catches us when we least expect it.

Love never vanishes—it just changes rooms. And one day, when our own journey brings us home, I believe every pawprint angel will be waiting—tails wagging, purrs rumbling, hearts whole again.
