Tartuffe

"Tartuffe" (Herr Tartüff) is a German silent film released in 1925 and directed by F. W. Murnau.

The story of "Tartuffe" revolves around a cunning and hypocritical impostor named Tartuffe who deceives a wealthy man named Orgon into believing he is a pious and devout man. Orgon becomes infatuated with Tartuffe and allows him to manipulate his household and finances, causing chaos and conflict among his family members.

F. W. Murnau, known for his groundbreaking work in German expressionist cinema, would have likely brought his signature visual style and storytelling techniques to "Tartuffe," creating a visually striking and thematically rich interpretation of Molière's classic play.

While "Herr Tartüff" may not be as well-known as some of Murnau's other films, such as "Nosferatu" or "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans," it remains an important piece of cinematic history.
