Kaiser Wilhelm II

Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and his mother, Dowager Empress Victoria.
Vicky was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. In the U.K., she was Princess Royal.
Wilhelm and Vicky had a notoriously frosty relationship- Vicky and her husband Fritz were liberals whilst Wilhelm was conservative. He also blamed her for his deformed arm, which was damaged during childbirth. He banned his mother from court to stop her from meddling in his plans.
Vicky was so distressed at her son’s behaviours and ideologies, she frequently wrote back to her mother, and brother King Edward VII, about him. When she was dying of breast cancer, she ordered her letters and personal documents be smuggled from Germany to her brother in the U.K. so her son couldn’t get his hands on them.
Despite his hatred for his mother, Wilhelm loved Britain, and often enjoyed dressing up as an “English gentleman”. He was also very close to his “Grandmama”, Queen Victoria; he was her first grandchild.
