When you were born

 When you were born, I had no idea how to be a mom yet.

You taught me.
You showed me what it meant to love without limits.
You softened parts of me I never knew needed softening.
Your little laugh cracked my whole heart wide open.

I remember looking into your eyes and feeling like I was staring into something endless and familiar at the same time.
Everything in my world shifted.
Everything in me settled into place.

My whole universe fit inside your tiny body.
You were everything.
And even now, after all the growing and changing and learning we have both done
You still are.
