My husband
My husband will never know what it’s like to be the default parent.
To have your name called a hundred times a day.To carry the mental checklist of doctor appointments, permission slips, and what size shoes the kids are in.
And I’ll never know what it’s like to be the default provider.
To carry the pressure of bills, budgets, and being the safety net if things fall apart.
To feel like your worth is measured in numbers and hours clocked.
We both carry loads the other may never fully understand.
So here’s your reminder to stop keeping score.
This isn’t a competition.
It’s a partnership.
And we’re both trying our best.
