 I’m not raising my child to blindly obey

I’m raising them to understand

To understand why we do things
To understand their feelings
To understand how their choices affect others
To understand boundaries and theirs and mine

Because obedience without understanding becomes silence
It becomes fear
It becomes kids who follow rules without asking why
It becomes adults who don’t know how to speak up when something feels wrong

I want my child to know how to pause
To ask questions
To trust their gut
To think for themselves even if it makes others uncomfortable

I’m not here to raise someone who always says yes
I’m here to raise someone who knows they’re allowed to say no
And knows why that matters
