They arrive in our lives

 They arrive in our lives

with quiet paws
and loud love.

They don’t ask for much—
a soft place to sleep,
a warm hand,
a heart that sees them
as someone,
not something.

And in return,
they become our protectors.
Our reason to smile.
Our safe place in a loud world.

They speak in tail wags,
in nose nudges,
in the way they sit beside us
when the tears start falling
for no reason.

So we promise them:
We will be your voice.
Your shield.
Your forever home.

And when they must leave us—
when the world becomes too heavy
for even the bravest heart—
their duty of love
doesn’t stop.

They watch from the stars,
standing guard at heaven’s gate,
waiting to run toward us again
the moment we arrive.

They protect us
even now…
silent
and shining
at the edge of the Rainbow Bridge.

Because love like theirs
is fearless.
And loyalty like theirs
never dies.
