Hey, my friend

 Hey, my friend.

I know you can’t see me now, but I still see you.
I see you pause at the doorway where I once waited,
and I notice when your hand lingers on my toy.
I even see the tears you hide when the world isn’t watching.

I need you to know—I’m okay here.
It’s warm and bright, with meadows that never end.
There are friends everywhere, some with wagging tails, others with soft purrs.
We play and rest without pain, without fear, without time.
The grass feels like velvet beneath my paws,
and the sunlight is as gentle as your touch once was.

Sometimes, I hear your voice.
Sometimes, I feel your love wrapping around me,
just as safe and steady as those quiet nights we shared.
I miss you too—your laughter, your voice,
the way my name sounded when it came from you.

But here’s my promise:
when your journey is done, I’ll be there, waiting.
Whole, happy, and ready to run into your arms
just like I always did.
Because love like ours doesn’t fade—it waits.

So keep living until then.
Smile when you think of me.
Love with the same open heart you gave me.
And when a rainbow arcs across the sky,
or the breeze brushes your cheek,
know it’s me whispering hello…
Still yours. Always.
