Rocky Mountains
That morning above the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, a bright ring wrapped around the sun like a giant circle of light, and beneath it a smooth “disk” cloud floated—so clean it didn’t feel real.
For a moment, you don’t even think “weather”… you just stare.
That glowing circle is a sun halo.
Tiny ice crystals high in the atmosphere bend sunlight at a precise angle,
so the light forms a perfect ring.
And that “UFO” cloud under it?
A lenticular cloud—made when strong wind flows over mountains and the air moves in waves. Moisture condenses at the wave crest, creating that smooth layered shape.
Two rare things in one frame.
One short window of time.
