Jeanne Martin

Jeanne Martin, born Dorothy Jean Biegger (March 27, 1927- August 24, 2016)

The former beauty queen and model will best be remembered for being the second wife of legendary entertainer Dean Martin. She began modeling in Miami and was voted Orange Bowl queen in 1947. The following year, she went to the Beachcomber Club in Miami to see a New Year’s Eve show starring Martin and Jerry Lewis. A week after Martin was granted a divorce from first wife Betty McDonald, he and Biegger wed on Sept. 1, 1949, in Beverly Hills with Lewis serving as best man. During their 20-year marriage, she would make several appearances on television shows such as 'The Dean Martin Show' and 'I Love Lucy'. Together they had three children; Dean Paul, Ricci, and Gina Martin. Their marriage lasted 24 years (1949–1973), until they got divorced. Eventually, Martin reconciled with Jeanne, though they never remarried. She died from complications of cancer at her Beverly Hills home, just three weeks after the death of her son, Ricci. Jeanne is buried at Westwood Memorial Park, near the crypt of Dean Martin.
