Payment Deferred
"Payment Deferred" 1932 Charles Laughton, Dorothy Peterson, Maureen O'Sullivan, Veree Teasdale, Ray Milland. Laughton is superb as usual in this film based in London from a stage play. Dorothy Peterson is an actress I've come to admire and she was from Minnesota born in 1897 while Laughton was English born in 1899 and their daughter is the Irish actress Maureen O'Sullivan born in 1911! To top things off, Ray Milland, a Welshman born in 1907, plays an Australian. Not to mention that American Veree Teasdale plays a French Woman. I wondered how this melting pot of accents struck audiences overseas.
Rhis is more psychological murder than a murder mystery and a score and some nifty camera work would have made it more interesting but it's a good little film regardless of that.
