Mae Busch
Mae Busch was born in 1891 in Melbourne, Australia and her parents were in the theater and they moved to San Framcisco in 1897. Mae was educated at a Saint Elizabeth's Convent until 1903 when age 12. She then joined her parents in vaudeville and was spotted and signed Mack Sennett in 1915.
"Mae Busch can certainly claim career versatility, having successfully played Erich von Stroheim's mistress, Lon Chaney's girlfriend, Charley Chase's sister, James Finlayson's ex-wife and Oliver Hardy's wife!" someone wrote on IMDB and it is accurate. Mae Busch appeared in 130 movies between 1915 and 1947.
I noticed that the woman who was a wedding witness in "Scarlet Dawn" 1932 looked very familiar and it turned out to be Mae Busch. Both Jackie Gleason and Johnny Carson made fun of her saying, "...and the ever popular Mae Busch!" but she made many films all the better by being in them. She died on April 19, 1947 in the San Fernando Valley at age 54.
