Ex-Lady
"Ex-Lady" 1933 Bette Davis, Gene Raymond, Monroe Owsley, Frank McHugh, Claire Dodd, and Kay Strozzi in a film directed by Ray Florey and written by Edith Fitzgerald, Robert Riskin, and David Boehm. Davis puts her all into an interesting character who also looks fantastic. This film has excellent sets, lighting, costumes, hair, make-up but it isn't enough to make it work. Barbara Stanwyck had the basic same story in 1931 called "Illicit." In both, the lead eschews her ideals at length about being an individual versus being a wife.
