Robert Coogan

Robert Coogan, 1924-1978, younger brother of Jackie Coogan made his screen debut in Norman Taurog's "Skippy" starring Jackie Cooper. Cookan portrayed Sooky, the boy from Shantytown whose dog is taken by a cruel dogcatcher. Paramount cashed in on a sequel, "Sooky" again teaming Cooper and Coogan, but it didn'y fare as well and MGM signed Cooper leaving Coogan on his own. He went on to make 16 movies including three in the Joe Palooka series starring James Kirlwood Jr. in the title role and Coogan as the dim-witted Humphrey Pennyworth. Robert Coogan died May 12, 1978. He was 54.
