Maximinus Thrax


In 238, Roman emperor Maximinus Thrax, known as ‘the Thracian’, was assassinated during what became known as the ‘Year of the Six Emperors’. While advancing on Rome to put down a senatorial revolt, he was refused entry to the city of Aquileia, and was then killed by his disaffected soldiers from the Legio II Parthica.
