No one tells you

No one tells you about this part of motherhood.

How your baby seems to have an invisible radar tuned directly to you.

They can be out cold, breathing deep, tiny fists relaxed, and the second you sit down they are awake.
The moment your food is finally ready and hot they are awake.
The instant your head hits the pillow after a long day they are awake.

It is like they know.
Like their little hearts can feel the second yours slows down and they do not want to miss a moment of you.

It is exhausting. It is relentless.
But in the quiet between the yawns and the reheated meals you realize they just want you close.
And what’s crazy? Someday you might even miss this.
