I don’t follow the old food rules with my kids
I don’t follow the old food rules with my kids.
I’m not here to make them clean their plates just because there’s food left. I want them to tune in to their own bodies and know what hunger feels like, what fullness feels like, and to trust those cues.Dessert isn’t a bargaining chip in our house. If they want something sweet before dinner that’s fine. They know that in our family we eat a variety of foods like fruits, veggies, and proteins because our bodies deserve it, not because they have to earn it.
I’m not teaching them that some foods are good and others are bad. I’m teaching them that food is fuel, food is joy, and that no snack or treat holds moral value.
Because the real goal is raising kids who have a healthy and shame free relationship with food that will last long after they leave my kitchen.
