THE SKY JUST CAUGHT FIRE IN COLOR
THE SKY JUST CAUGHT FIRE IN COLOR
At sunset, high-altitude ice crystals can bend and scatter light into intense bands of red, gold, teal, and violet. When thin cirrus clouds spread like brushstrokes across the upper atmosphere, they act like a giant prism, turning an ordinary sunset into a sky-wide light show.
These dramatic color explosions are most often seen in wide-open desert or plateau landscapes where the horizon is clear and the air is dry .. places like Atacama Desert, Monument Valley, or the high plains near Albuquerque.
