LAWRENCE OF ARABIA
"LAWRENCE OF ARABIA" (1962)
MY THOUGHTS ... The Real 'Lawrence of Arabia' (Thomas Edward Lawrence) was the dashing, romanticized British officer credited with leading the Arab revolt against the Turks during World War I -- a feat depicted in this epic film. It was pouring with rain on the morning of Sunday - May 19, 1935, when T.E. Lawrence died. The man made famous by his Great War exploits in the Middle East, finally succumbed to the head injuries he had suffered six days earlier in a motorcycle accident. His true story and legacy are still a subject of debate among historians.
SYNOPSIS: "Due to his knowledge of the native Bedouin tribes, British Lieutenant T.E. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) is sent to Arabia to find Prince Faisal (Alec Guinness) and serve as a liaison between the Arabs and the British, in their fight against the Turks. With the aid of native Sherif Ali (Omar Sharif), Lawrence rebels against the orders of his superior officer and strikes out on a daring camel journey across the harsh desert, to attack a well-guarded Turkish port."
