THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI
"THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI" --- (1947) ---
MY THOUGHTS: This movie was new to me and I enjoyed it very much. Then again, anything written by, acted by AND directed by Orson Welles, is bound to be wonderful! There was a lot about it that was "new", even within a well-established genre. It is well worth the watch, and I would recommend it highly.
SYNOPSIS: "A seaman becomes involved in a complex murder plot when he is hired to work on a yacht. He soon finds himself implicated in the murder, despite his innocence. The film is best remembered for its climax "hall of mirrors" scene with a shootout amidst shards of shattering glass."
STARRING: Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth, Glenn Anders and Everett Sloane
SCREENPLAY: Orson Welles, William Castle, Charles Lederer and Fletcher Markle, as adapted from "If I Die Before I Wake."
DIRECTOR: Orson Welles
