There are some things you don’t think about until you become a parent like how something as simple as a grape can be dangerous.
Whole grapes are one of the top choking hazards for little kids. Even cutting them in half isn’t always enough. Experts actually recommend cutting grapes lengthwise into quarters or fifths (depending on the size) so there are no round pieces that can get lodged in a child’s throat. It takes a few extra seconds, sure, but those few seconds could make all the difference.
Our job isn’t to make them scared of the world it’s to help guide them them through it in an age appropriate way.
This also applies to cherry tomatoes, hot dogs, and even large blueberries too. Little changes that keep our babies safe.
