Romy Schneider
Romy Schneider (September 23, 1938 – May 29, 1982)She started her career in the early 1950s around age 15. From 1955 to 1957 she played the central character of Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the Austrian Sissi trilogy. Schneider later moved to France where she made successful and critically acclaimed films with some of the most notable film directors of that era. Schneider was married twice, to Harry Meyen (1966-1975) and Daniel Biasini (1975–1981). Romy's son David, from her first marriage, died in an accident in 1981 at age 14. Schneider began drinking alcohol excessively after the death of David. When she was found dead in her apartment in Paris on May 19, 1982, it was suggested that she had committed suicide by taking a lethal cocktail of alcohol and sleeping pills. However, after another postmortem examination was carried out, authorities declared that she had died from cardiac arrest.
