*Older sister of the renowned actor Warren Beatty.Never filmed together, she and Beatty had complex relationship.
*As a child, Shirley MacLaine was passionate about ballet and was one of the tallest girls in her class. This meant she was often cast in the male roles due to her height, which gave her a unique opportunity to explore different characters and develop her skills as a dancer.She was once cast as the fairy Godmother in a ballet rendition of Cinderella. On the night of the performance, tragedy struck when she broke her ankle. Despite the injury, MacLaine refused to call off the show and instead tightened the laces on her ballet shoes and danced her part. Her determination and dedication to the performance was an inspiring display of courage and strength.
*MacLaine made her film debut in 1955, starring in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Trouble with Harry.”This movie was Sir Alfred Hitchcock's experiment to see how audiences would react to a non-star-driven movie.And Hitchcock successful helped Shirley MacLaine won a Golden Globe for her first theatrical movie performance.
*Jerry Lewis saw Shirley MacLaine on stage in "The Pajama Game", where she was understudy for Carol Haney, and convinced the producer to use her in Artist and Models (1955).
*Was close friends with the members of the Rat Pack. She starred with all of them in Ocean's Eleven (1960). Other works with Rat Pack members include: Some Came Running (1958), Cannonball Run II (1984) and Can-Can (1960).
*In her memoir "I'm Over That And Other Confessions", she claims to have been intimate with Danny Kaye, and Robert Mitchum, among others. She told Oprah Winfrey in an April 2011 TV appearance that she was not attracted to Jack Lemmon because he was not "dangerous" and "complicated".
