Sphinx

The Sphinx is a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. It is typically depicted as having wings and a serpent's tail. The most famous Sphinx is the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt. It is the largest monolithic statue in the world, standing 66 feet (20 meters) tall and 240 feet (73 meters) long.

The Great Sphinx of Giza is believed to have been built during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre in the 26th century BC. It is carved out of a single block of limestone and is thought to have been originally painted in bright colors. The Sphinx is often associated with riddles and puzzles in Greek mythology. In the story of Oedipus, the Sphinx challenges travelers to answer a riddle, and the creature devours those who fall.

The Sphinx is a common motif in art and architecture throughout history, appearing in everything from ancient Greek pottery to Renaissance paintings to modern advertising. It is often used to symbolize strength, mystery, and wisdom.
