 I’m not my kids’ cruise director

I’m not here to schedule out every second of their day
Or dance around like a clown just so they’re never bored

They’re allowed to be bored
They need to be bored
Because boredom is where imagination is born
It’s where they figure out how to entertain themselves
It’s where they learn that the world doesn’t revolve around their constant amusement

I’m not apologizing for not being a walking party
I’m not feeling guilty because my kids have to sit in their own thoughts sometimes
That’s real life
That’s how you grow

So if you see my kids laying on the floor whining about having nothing to do
Know that I’m doing my job
I’m raising humans who can actually sit with themselves and figure it out on their own
