Stella Maris

"Stella Maris" 1918 directed by Marshall Neilan, written by William John Locke and Frances Marion for Artcraft Pictures.

Mary Pickford, Conway Tearle, Ida Waterman, Herbert Standing, Marcia Manon, Josephine Crowell, Lou Conley.
Mary Pickford in dual roles, one a paraplegic rich girl who only knows the good of the world and an experienced orphan who has been abused, both of whom fall in love with the same man. Mary makes an incredible contrast between the poor orphan named Unity and the beautiful rich girl, Stella Maris, proving she was a very gifted actress. Much of her work, not always in great films, and this is not a great film, deserve to be seen and rediscovered. Pickford is up there with Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd and Marion Davies.
