Lights of New York
"Lights of New York" 1928 directed by Brian Foy, written by Murray Roth, Hugh Herbert, and Charles L. Gaskill for Warner Brothers
Helen Costello, Cullen Landis, Mary Carr, Wheeler Oakman, Gladys Brockwell, Robert Elliott, Eugene Pallette, Tom Dugan, Tom McGuire, Walter Percival.
Originally intended to be a short film, more was filmed, and the Warner Brothers were away and wanted it cut when they returned but director Foy was offered $25,000 by an exhibitor friend so the studio released the film, and they made a huge profit on it. This is the first "All-Talking" picture with songs sung by Harry Downing and Wheeler Oakman was the first to utter the famous line, "Take him for a ride."
