I can still feel it

 I can still feel it…

The last paw in my hand.
Your fur was warm.
Your touch was gentle, though your body was tired.
I held on like a child clinging to safety, whispering every thank you I could between my tears.
I wanted time to stop.
I wanted the world to pause just a little longer.
Because how do you ever say goodbye to the one who was your world?
When your breath slowed, I pressed my cheek against your paw. And in that silence, I swear I felt your spirit lift—light, free, unchained from pain.
The last paw in my hand was not the last of you.
It was the bridge between here and heaven.
It was the moment our love transformed into something endless, something no distance can erase.
Now, when I close my eyes, I still feel you.
That last paw—soft, steady, eternal.
A promise that we will walk together again…
paw in hand, heart to heart, forever.
