Breaking Bad

RJ Mitte has cerebral palsy in real life, though his condition is much milder than that of Walter White Jr in Breaking Bad.

Diagnosed at age three, Mitte underwent years of physical therapy and used leg braces and crutches as a child, but no longer needs walking aids in daily life.

For the show, he had to intentionally exaggerate his symptoms relearning how to walk with crutches and slowing his speech, to accurately portray a more severe form of cerebral palsy on screen.

His performance is widely praised for its authenticity and helped bring meaningful disability representation to mainstream television.
