Sinners' Holiday (1930)

Joan Blondell as "Myrtle", in her second movie role, and James Cagney as "Harry Delano", in his movie debut, and both in secondary supporting roles, in John G. Adolphi's 'Sinners' Holiday' (1930), a Pre-Code all-talking crime drama movie for Warner Brothers Pictures. The movie presents the story of a 'Penny Arcade' matron on Coney Island, (Lucille La Verne as "Ma Delano"), who tries to frame her daughter's boyfriend (Grant Withers, the male lead, as "Angel Harrigan"), for a murder her bootlegger son, (James Cagney as "Harry Delano"), committed.
Both James Cagney and Joan Blondell reprised the roles they played in the original Broadway production, upon which this movie is based, 'Penny Arcade' (1930) by Marie Baumer. Joan Blondell and James Cagney would soon become major contract players at Warner Brothers, and many consider James Cagney to be the most prominent leading man at Warner Brothers during Hollywood's Golden Age.
