Lon Chaney Jr
Lon Chaney Jr., (February 10, 1906 – July 12, 1973), was known for playing "Larry Talbot" (AKA "The Wolf Man"), as pictured here, in George Waggner's horror movie for Universal Pictures, 'The Wolf Man' (1941), also starring Claude Rains, Warren William, Ralph Bellamy, Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi, Evelyn Ankers, and Maria Ouspenskaya. 'The Wolf Man' (1941) and its various crossovers, "Count Alucard" (Dracula spelled backward) in Robert Siodmak's horror movie 'Son of Dracula' (1943), Frankenstein's monster in Erle C. Kenton's horror movie 'The Ghost of Frankenstein' (1942) also starring Cedric Hardwicke and Bela Lugosi, the Mummy in three pictures, and various other roles in many Universal horror films, making him a horror icon. He also portrayed "Lennie Small" in Lewis Milestone's adaptation of John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men' (1939) also starring Burgess Meredith, Betty Field, Charles Bickford, Roman Bohnen, Bob Steele, and Noah Beery Jr. Lon Chaney Jr. also played supporting parts in dozens of mainstream movies, including Fred Zinnemann's Western, 'High Noon' (1952), starring Gary Cooper, Thomas Mitchell, Katy Jurado, Grace Kelly, Otto Kruger, and Harry Morgan, and in Stanley Kramer's adventure drama 'The Defiant Ones' (1958), starring Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier.
