Camfield Place
Camfield Place – A Riot of Azaleas and Rhododendrons in Pink
Still the family seat to this day, the Camfield Place was always far more than just a home to Barbara Cartland – it was a source of inspiration. And when you gaze at this charming country house, nestling in its idyllic, rambling gardens in the heart of rural Hertfordshire, it’s easy to see how it fired the imagination of the Queen of Romance.
Right now, at the height of the English summer, the Camfield garden is a glorious riot of Rhododendron and Azalea flowers in every shade of pink, the flowers Barbara loved so dearly in the hue she always called the colour of love. Watch closely when a gentle breeze stirs those swooning blooms and, out of the corner of your eye, it’s almost as if you catch a fleeting glimpse of that famous pink chiffon gown. Because here, the Spirit of Romance is very much alive.
