Dale Robertson


 Dale Robertson was a versatile American actor known for his roles in both television and film, particularly in Westerns. Born on July 14, 1923, in Harrah, Oklahoma, Robertson's career spanned over five decades, during which he became a beloved figure in the genre.

Robertson’s entry into acting came after a stint in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served as a tank commander. After the war, he transitioned to Hollywood, making his film debut in the late 1940s. He quickly established himself as a leading man with a commanding screen presence. His early film roles included parts in movies such as The Boy with the Green Hair (1948) and Fighting Man of the Plains (1949).
However, Robertson is perhaps best known for his extensive work in television, especially in Western series. One of his most notable roles was as Jim Hardie in the TV series Tales of Wells Fargo (1957-1962). In this series, Robertson played a special investigator for the Wells Fargo Company, navigating various adventures and conflicts in the Old West. His portrayal was well-received and became one of his signature roles.
Following Tales of Wells Fargo, Robertson continued to find success in television Westerns. He starred in the popular series The Iron Horse (1966-1968) as the determined and rugged owner of a railroad company. His role as the charismatic and often tough protagonist further cemented his place as a prominent figure in the Western genre.
In addition to his television work, Robertson appeared in a number of films, including The Last Posse (1953) and The Black Dakotas (1954). His film career showcased his versatility, allowing him to take on a variety of roles beyond the Western genre.
Robertson's career was marked by his strong performances and his ability to bring authenticity and depth to his characters. He retired from acting in the early 1980s, but his contributions to television and film, particularly in the Western genre, left a lasting impression on audiences. Dale Robertson passed away on February 27, 2013, but his legacy as a beloved actor endures through his memorable roles and his significant impact on American entertainment.
