Eydie Gormé


 Eydie Gormé (1928–2013), a Grammy- and Emmy-winning singer celebrated for her solo work and her iconic duets with husband Steve Lawrence. Gormé’s career began in 1953 with her first television appearance, where she met Lawrence on The Tonight Show with Steve Allen. Together, they starred in The Steve Lawrence–Eydie Gormé Show in 1958 and made memorable guest appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, delighting audiences with their harmonies and on-screen chemistry.

As a solo artist, Gormé achieved great success with hits like “Blame It on the Bossa Nova” (1963), which sold over a million copies and earned a gold disc. She also earned a Grammy in 1967 for Best Female Vocal Performance for “If He Walked Into My Life” from Mame. Beyond English-language pop, Gormé gained international acclaim in the Latin music world with the legendary Trio Los Panchos, blending her voice beautifully with their romantic ballads.

Eydie Gormé passed away on August 10, 2013, just six days shy of her 85th birthday, at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas. She is interred alongside her legacy at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, leaving behind a timeless musical imprint.
