Byron Palmer
Byron Palmer (June 21, 1920 – September 30, 2009)Palmer was a stage and screen actor and singer. He began his professional career in show business with acting assignments on the NBC and CBS radio stations. Byron's first big break in show business came in 1948 when, at the age of 28, Byron landed the singing lead with Ray Bolger in Broadway's hit musical "Where's Charley?" He got his start in motion pictures in 20th Century-Fox's new movie "Tonight We Sing"…based on the life story of Sol Hurok. He co-starred with Majorie Main and Perry Kilbride in "Ma and Pa Kettle in Waikiki"; with Jack Palance and Frances Bavier in "Man in the Attic" and with Walter Brennan and Margaret O'Brien in "Glory". On television, Byron co-starred in the CBS TV series, "Make Mine Music". He served as co-star of the TV-film series, "This is Your Music", and as co-host of the NBC-TV program, "Bride and Groom". He also acted as Master of Ceremonies for the world-famous "Miss Universe" and "Miss International Beauty" Pageants. His career was interrupted by World War II in which he served in the Army Air Force and operated a radio station on one of the islands in the Pacific. He also performed with the Music Mates singing quartet as its tenor. Palmer was married three times, having one child with his first wife, and two with his second. He was married to his third wife Georgine Darcy from 1974 until her death in 2004. Palmer died on September 30, 2009 at age 89, and is buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
